Challenges regarding impacts on daily function for people with migraine disease

At EAN 2022, Cristina Tassorelli, Professor of Neurology, University of Pavia, Italy, discussed how there are several challenges for people with migraine including the need to take acute medication to help stave off an attack and needing help to get home if medication doesn’t work. Acute treatment needs to be optimized to the individual and it is important, to recognize when preventative medication is needed. Other challenges include when a person does not recognize they have migraine disease, so does not seek care, or if someone has migraine but cannot access a specialist headache center in a timely manner. Another challenge is due to symptoms such as vomiting when outside the home.
