Observational studies showed 50-60% of patients receiving antidepressants like SSRiS or SNRIs reported to have emotional blunting after treatment
In this interview, we learned from Prof Bernard Baune that some patients described emotional blunting as not feeling the positive feelings after treatment; Clinically, emotional blunting is basically emotional flattening and the inability to feel emotions, which can apply to positive or negative emotions; and this could be very bothersome to our patients. Not every medication for depression would give emotional blunting, there seems to be differences between medications.
